Oceanside Hose Company No. 1, Inc. was founded on April 6, 1906. The company proudly protects 34000+/- people living in an area of 5.6 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily residential area. Hose Company is first due from the west end of Oceanside. Therefore, Hose Company responds to mutual aid calls to the west of Oceanside. We are assigned 3 pieces of apparatus, OFD Engine 246, OFD Unit 2462, and OFD Marine 6. Below is information regarding both trucks and our rescue boat. The company also has a chuck wagon (246-30) which is used as a portable kitchen. We opperate under the leadership of Captain Robert (Robbie) Dawson, 1st Lieutenant Joseph Dasar, and 2nd Lieutenant Matthew Lewis.
Engine 246 is Hose Company's first due apparatus. Engine 246 contains all the items needed for both residential and commercial firefighting. Engine 246 also responds to mutual aid calls to towns west of Oceanside including the City of New York.
Unit 2462 is Hose Company's second-due apparatus. It is currently used as a personel carrier, command post, and water rescue apparatus. 2462 is used to tow rescue boat Marine 6 to water rescue scenes. On board 2462 are ice and cold water rescue suits, life jackets, life rings, throw ropes, diving masks and snorkles along with fins.
Marine 6 is Hose Company's Rescue Boat. Towed by Unit 2462, Marine 6 responds to local water rescue calls and mutual aid water rescue calls. On board Marine 6 is a heavy duty cargo net, marine radio, life jackets, life rings, throw ropes, and water rescue helmets.
