Looks like bad habits stay with me. It’s been four months since our last update of Company happenings so it’s time to “let er' rip”! For our Company: For our Explorer Post 246 : Results of the Department election are: Results of the Fire District election are: We congratulate all the new and returning officers on their election and wish them success in their new position. Now for our Company, being Captain should be “old hat” for the Captain as he’s been there before, however this year he’ll be breaking in two brand new officers. The new 2nd Lieutenant is following in his father’s footsteps and I’m sure that “Pops” A.K.A. “Sea Dog” will be giving him advice where needed. Also, if you took note in the above listing of the Department Chief Officers , our own Pat Madden is now the “Baby Chief” I’ve watched Pat develop all these years from being in my essentials of firefighting class at the Fire Academy, and I’m sure he’s going to make a terrific Chief. Over these past few months, the Company picked up two new probies. Esteban (Steve) Rial and Timothy Mulcany. This brings our active company roster back up to 36. We also picked up a couple of new chauffeurs for our trucks. Joe (Doc) Dasaro , Robert (Robbie) Dawson and Chris (Rocky) Marciano have passed their qualifications and Vicky (Giggles) Rahn and George Service are in training. Way to go guys. I heard from Former Chief Bob (Rube) Pfirmann. He and his wife Connie are feeling much better then they did last year at this time and that is great news. Rube does volunteer work with the Manteca Fire Department California , where he lives. The program is called S.A.F.E. which stands for Seniors Assisting Fire Effort. They do fire safety programs at the local schools and other fire prevention programs in their community. It’s a great way of utilizing your seniors and using their knowledge. Again, before closing out, I’d like to congratulate all the incoming officers for the upcoming year, and hope ALL have a very happy holiday season. As it says in the last line from The night before Christmas, “MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT”. Hope to catch you all next year.. Happy and Healthy New Year to all.
Sincerely,
Oceanside Hose Company no. 1
