Hose Company One had a working fire (signal 10) on Christmas night and as usual the Company did what it does best. We had the second line operating off Engine 243 (Columbia Engine Co. 1), which was first in, and put the “wet stuff on the red stuff”.
Captain John Madden laid out his Company agenda for the year and appointed his committees for the upcoming year. The 100 year Anniversary Committee will be getting fired up this year as come April 2006 we will have made the 100 year mark. This writer was asked to head up the Anniversary Journal, so any of you old timers out there who have memories of our “early days” give me a shout.
Congratulations are in order for Firefighter Anthony Martini who sheds his orange probie shield for a black one. Anthony is the web master of this site and does a first rate job at it.
On a down side. We received word the other day that our retired member Bill Serhan's wife Dottie passed away last month. Dottie was a wonderful person and I remember a lot of good times at Company parties with the Serhans way back in my Captain days. Our sympathy and condolences go out to Bill and his family.
Now that we are in the new year, I'll take this opportunity to wish all a very
HAPPY & HEALTHY NEW YEAR .
