Since last we posted our Company news quite a bit has happened. First the Department held its annual Installation Inspection and Dinner on January 29 th . From what I hear most had a most enjoyable night. Ex-Captain Ron Deardoff and his wife Midge came in all the way from Las Vegas to attend and then Ron made the February meeting. It's always great seeing them especially since Ron and I were Captains together back in 1970. Ron was with the Rescue Company then. Ron was still Captain of Rescue while I was Chief and was one of the Captains who took me out for a farewell spin on my last day as Chief of Department.

Next bit of news. Looks like our Support Services and Water Rescue rig is “DEAD”. While responding to a call a couple of weeks ago, it threw a rod through the engine block and since it was going to be replaced (so the Board of Fire Commissioners has told us), we'll be using the department personnel carrier until we get a new truck. Last Saturday night we responded to a boat fire towing our boat behind unit 24-PC (Acting 2462 ) .

Plans for our 100 th Anniversary are moving ahead well and the committee is working hard to have a real successful celebration.

Got to give our Company Photographer a lot of credit. Pete Chiovitt has gotten all our company apparatus pictures up to date in our members room even including the original “Chuck Wagon” drawn behind John Moisuk's hand painted Lime Green Chevy Wagon. Now that brings back “old” memories to us “old” guys.

First parade is coming up for the Department in Rockville Centre on Saturday March 15 th . It's their annual St. Patrick's Day Parade. From past years everyone seems to have a good time and I'm sure that our Company will have our share of members in the parade, green berets and all.

Company By-Laws have been updated and printed. Any Company member needing a copy can get one from either the Company Secretary or any of the Officers.

Now before I close, Former Chief Bob “Rube” Pfirmann sends his best wishes to all from his home out in California . Rube stays in touch with us via e-mail and keeps us up on happenings from sunny California .

That's all for this month, so until my next…
Stay Well and Stay Safe and remember, “When you train, train like your life depends on it , because it just might”.

Sincerely,
Ex-Chief Bob Jacoby
