The April meeting started an hour earlier than usual so that we can get through the necessary business and on to out annual Ex-Captain's dinner. The 100 th Anniversary Committee gave its report and it was decided to have another special meeting on a Wednesday night where all that will be discussed will be the anniversary.

Any of you former members out there that might have some old pictures or history about the Company should either contact Anthony (our web master) or myself, so we can get all the data compiled for our Anniversary Journal. Ex-Captain Doug Tyers is putting all the data together.

I just received news through the Board of Fire Commissioners minutes, that our Support Services and Water Rescue Unit (2462) will be sold rather than repaired. No news if they are going to replace it with a new rig. Now we're using one of the District's pick up trucks (2408) to tow the boat in case it's needed.

Our Ex-Captain's dinner this year was held at Frank's Steak House in Rockville Centre and Ex-Captain Ed Nau did an outstanding job putting it all together. Fire Commissioners Paul Napoli and Bill Lynch as well as Chief Sean Lynch, 1 st Asst. Chief Tom McDermott and 3 rd Asst. Chief Tim Biscay were all in attendance as our guests. I was called upon to make Ex-Chief Fred's toast again as he was again unable to attend.

The Department parade schedule was just posted and looks like we'll be attending ten (10) parades this year. The big one, the Nassau County parade and drill is going to be held on Saturday July 7 th right here in Oceanside . As in past years, I wouldn't be surprised if Ex-Chief “Rube” Prifmann comes in from California for that weekend and parades with us.

As of this writing, the Department has responded to 410 calls so far. Projecting that over a year, it looks like we are doing about the same as last year with (1400 +/ - ) runs.

The Captain has been collecting our Class A uniform coats so we can get our new patches sewed on. Hopefully they will be ready by the Memorial Day parade. It's a good looking patch and was designed by our Chief, Sean Lynch.

That's all for this month, so until my next… Stay Well and Stay Safe and remember…

“When you train, train like your life depends on it , because it just might”.

Sincerely,
Ex-Chief Bob Jacoby
