Guess I better apologize first for taking the summer off with the Company news, but summer has come and gone, so its back to bringing you all up to speed with what's been happening here.

The annual July 4 th sale at Dee 's is over and now we all look forward to helping out for their October shrub sale. Tom D. is an Honorary Member and he is always most appreciative of the help we lend him. He says his staff always looks forward to the hamburgers and hot dogs we serve from our “Chuck Wagon” (246-30)

Our condolences go out to our Treasurer, Reed Menz on the passing of his brother Ted in July.

August was a banner month for the Department and our Company. The Department took first place in the New York State parade and all the members who went up to Niagara Falls had a great time. Then our tournament team, the EGGNOGGERS took first place overall at the 2 nd . Battalion drill held here in Oceanside . This brought the Bob Heintz trophy back to the Company where it belongs. Bob was Captain of our Company and died in office back in 1975. Bob was a big man and one heck of a great Captain. The Company donated a trophy to the Battalion in his name. The 2 nd . Battalion Drill and parade also brought back to town from California , former Chief Bob “Rube” Pfirmann for a couple of days. Rube was the Chief of Department back in 1971 and is still as fit and trim as he was back then. It was a hot and humid night , but Rube marched the whole distance. Also in August we admitted our newest member and probie , Nick Greco. We wish him a long, safe and distinguished carrier with the Company. I told him if he doesn't want to stay the junior member, he better bring in a friend or two.

September 11 th our truck is going to NYC to be in a drive-by of ground zero. We had a former member of our Company, Ken Marino, who perished with his comrades of Rescue 1 FDNY that day and its a honor that we were permitted to take our rig to the city and participate in this memorial to all the BROTHERS who died that day.

Sunday, October 3 rd . we're planning another trip up to the Firemen's Home to visit with former member Bob Preudhomme , who is a resident there. Those that went last June all had a nice time and we're hoping for a little bigger turn out this time. I was told the bus leaves at 6:30 in the morning, not 7:15. It's a long walk to Hudson from Oceanside , but they really have to wait for me as I know the directions.

October is bringing a full plate of training. The Company is scheduled for every Tuesday and Wednesday at the Fire Academy . In addition, I'm sure we'll be drilling during the month with our boat. You can never be too well trained and our Company believes in the old adage “Train like your life depends on it, because it does.”

Well looks like that's all there is. You're all now caught up with the happenings for the last two months.

So until next...Remember… Stay Well and Stay Safe.

Sincerely,
Ex-Chief Bob Jacoby
