DECEMBER 2008 Can’t believe it, but this will only be the third news from the company this year. Guess the “Old” Chief is slowing down. Quite a lot has happened since my last update, so hopefully I can remember it all. First we have picked up two new members who I’d like to officially welcome them on board. First, Joe Ornauer came on board in October and then last month one of our former Explorers stepped up into our ranks, James Stiner. Our former Captain Rich Capobianco, who had gone to the in-active rolls of the Company is back on the active rolls, and we’re glad to have him back. Ryan Dawson, son of Pops a.k.a. "Seadog" Dawson and younger brother of our 1st. Lieutenant Robbie, is now off probation. Speaking of “Robbie” though he is our 1st. Lieutenant, he’s a probbie again. This time it’s with the New York City FD as the newest member of their Engine Co. 206 in Brooklyn. Robbie graduated from the Fire Academy recently. We all wish him much luck in his new venture.
Now for the results of our Company election for 2009
The results of the Department election are as follows: The new District Fire Commissioner is Charles Fortin from Truck 1 Our former member Bob Preudhomme, who now resides at the State Firemen’s Home,is celebrating his birthday this month, so we’ll shout out a HAPPY BIRTHDAY Bob and we wish you many more. I keep hearing from former Chief Bob “Rube” Pfirmann that He and Connie are doing better now and he keeps busy doing fire safety programs for the Manteca (CA) Fire Department. Just can’t keep the “Old Fire Horses” down. We also had a brief visit from former Chief, John Sweeney. John was Chief back in 1959 and is the oldest living Chief. In fact, the two senior Chief’s are John and Rube who were both out of Hose Company One. I also see that one of our former members, Pete Gallagher, put an entry in our guest book. Pete’s been living down in the Pocono Mountains of Pennslyvania for quite some time now , but it’s always nice to hear from one of former members. If there is any news you’d like to submit to bring us up to date about what you’ve been up to lately, e-mail me at OFDChief77@aol.com and I’ll put it in the news letter. Well as we close out this year and look forward to next year , I would like to send out my wishes to all that they have a HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY, HEALTHY NEW YEAR. So until my next… Stay Well and Stay Safe and remember When you train, train like your life depends on it, because it just might
Sincerely,
