Oceanside Hose Company #1 is currently seeking applicants for the position of Firefighter. The job is simple: All you need to have are a willingness to serve others and either reside within the Oceanside Fire District or work within the district at least 8 hours per day.
An applicant will be required to pass a physical exam, given by the Fire District's physician. Upon acceptance into the company and Department, the new member will be required to attend classes in Essentials of Firefighting, Departmental First Aid & CPR training, HazMat. Awareness training and "hands on" primary firefighting training conducted at the Nassau County Fire Service Academy. Firefighters also have to option of becoming Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT-B or EMT-CC) or Paramedics (EMT-P). Applications can be picked up any Sunday morning or Wednesday night at the company quarters, by calling 766-9708, or by contacting ex-chief Bob Jacoby of the membership committee.
